Time to Focus on Week Bookends 🗓️

The in between will take care of itself.

It’s been a minute!

Let’s dive into today’s newsletter that comes to you after a couple of silent weeks. Some things that had me occupied: covering the social media for a 24-hour training swim, editing my latest episode & starting a new job!

Welcome to Setting The Pace Newsletter, a weekly newsletter where I provide 1 lesson, 1 tool/resource, and 1 action to help you set the pace in your life.

Before we jump in, I wanted to ask if you could go ahead and comment on my latest episode on YouTube; it really helps with engagement and would mean a lot! ❤️

1 lesson about creating the right bookend routine for your week 💪

The older I get, the more I understand that we’re all trying to figure it out, and I am learning or being reminded of these lessons.

Here is why you need to focus on your Monday’s & Friday’s 👇️

By focusing your energy on how you start the week, you allow yourself to kick off the week with the right tone. Most of us know this and possibly do it. But what about the end of the week when you’re tired and don’t feel like much? This is why you must add a Friday routine that helps you end the week with the same energy.

Let me explain 👇️

Last week, I put on a lot of pressure on myself to follow a routine that balanced out work and my workout routine. The problem was that the minute I couldn’t fit in a workout that day or ran late with a work deadline, I quickly lost motivation to keep it up for the rest of the week because ‘the week was ruined.’ *what are you talking about, crazy woman*

This week, I decided to be a bit more logical and wrote down some ways to add accountability or some kind of flexible structure to my new work/workout life. Having a good workout routine is a good byproduct of my life feeling together. I figured out that if I started the week and ended the week with the right amount of needs-to-get-done energy, it would give the rest of my week the flow I often seek.

I also found this useful when I used to work remotely; starting my week at a co-working space gave me the energy to be productive and get things done, and ending the week the same way rounded off my work week pretty nicely.

I’ve decided to adopt this same pattern for my workouts, but I’m sure it can be applied to a few routines; be it work or otherwise.

The aim:

So this is what it looks like for the next few weeks:

Day of the Week

Workout

Monday

Gym class (probably Crossfit)

Tuesday

Swim

Wednesday

Gym

Thursday

Swim

Friday

Gym class (probably Crossfit)

As I explained before, it’s always workout-heavy because that’s what grounds me, but it could be whatever works for you. You pick 2 routines for the start and end of your week to give you back energy.

1 resource

I’m such a sucker for a good resource; these are helpful tools and resources that have improved my weekly life, truly.

I’m such a Tim Ferris fan. I feel like his podcasts offer so much value in so many areas of my life & I’m always sharing them whenever I can. I recently shared this episode with a good friend, and she told me I should add it to my newsletter, so here it is>
