Welcome to Setting The Pace Newsletter, a weekly newsletter where I provide 1 lesson, 1 tool/resource, and 1 action to help you set the pace in your life.

Before we jump in, I wanted to ask if you could go ahead and comment on my latest episode on YouTube; it really helps with engagement and would mean a lot! ❤️

1 lesson

The older I get, the more I understand that we’re all trying to figure it out, and I am learning or being reminded of these lessons.

The Power of Being Average

This week, I launched our 5th episode of Setting the Pace, and as I was editing away, I was reminded of the lesson that Mark spoke about at around minute 15: the power of being average.

Mark explains how he’s always been ‘bang average at school, sports, and pretty much everything else’ in his life, but he always shares how this has helped him to be the one thing most people struggle with: being consistent. Being ‘average’, as Mark explains it, removes the pressure to be the best every single time and instead be the best some of the time and average most of the time - but what’s important is that he doesn’t give up and keeps showing up.

The lesson here for me is to opt to be average, especially at the start of something like this newsletter or podcast, but to set a pace that I can maintain rather than adding way too much pressure to be the best and lose motivation after a week or two.

1 resource

I’m such a sucker for a good resource; these are helpful tools and resources that have improved my weekly life, truly.

Time to take out that journal. Here’s a prompt I’ve been asking myself

‘What’s one way I can make my day easier for msyelf today?’

If you’ve read this far, thank you!

Until next Friday,
