Create Some Goodwill For Yourself 🫴

Next week is all about giving.

It’s been a minute!

Let’s dive into today’s newsletter that comes to you after a couple of silent weeks. Some things that had me occupied: covering the social media for a 24-hour training swim, editing my latest episode & starting a new job!

Welcome to Setting The Pace Newsletter, a weekly newsletter where I provide 1 lesson, 1 tool/resource, and 1 action to help you set the pace in your life.

Before we jump in, I wanted to ask if you could go ahead and comment on my latest episode on YouTube; it really helps with engagement and would mean a lot! ❤️

1 lesson about Creating Goodwill 👑

The older I get, the more I understand that we’re all trying to figure it out, and I am learning or being reminded of these lessons.

Here is why you need to create goodwill 👇️

This week, I spent an hour talking to my new boss, and one of the first things he said was how, in any area of your life, and especially work, it’s really important to create goodwill.

I took a second to understand what he meant by that. Then he explained that whether you’re just starting a new job or have been there for several years, you need to adopt the perspective of how you can right now give more and, in return, create the opportunity to learn more from those around you. *give more than you take*

We often operate from the perspective of ‘how I can make or take more from X,’ but that’s the ego. My boss explained to me here that you can’t expect to receive anything if you haven’t laid out your goodwill foundation.

Next week, I’m going to really be aware of my own goodwill foundation and think about how I can place myself in situations where I am learning and giving more than I’m taking:

you can now hold me accountable!

1 resource

I’m such a sucker for a good resource; these are helpful tools and resources that have improved my weekly life, truly.

  1. Sort Reels: find trending reels for inspiration 🤳

I’m knee-deep in the world of socials and trying to compile a list of tools that make my day feel more productive. This chrome extension does just that:» Sorts Instagram™ Reels by views, likes, and more, and export data into CSV 🤩

    Ready to begin?

    1. 📥 Install extension and visit a user's profile on Instagram.

    2. 💻 Go to their Reels tab and use the extension's icon to sort.

    3. 💡 Note: Ensure the extension is pinned on your Chrome's toolbar.

1 action 😇

For this last section, it’s a very gentle nudge to do something that will make you feel good afterward, no matter how small the action. Feel free to adapt it or make it fit your day with the least amount of resistance.

Think about 1 way you can create some goodwill at work or any area of your life and reply back to email with any ideas!

I’d love to hear them and learn from you!

If you’ve read this far, thank you!

Until next Friday,

Mar X
