Committing to Intentional Living š«
It all starts with self-awareness.
Welcome to Day 3/30 of this newsletter challenge.
Over the next 30 days, Iāll send out a daily email featuring someone who I think has found ways to Set The Pace in their life (shameless plug) and share the unique ways they go about their work, life, and everything in between.
The email will be divided into:
3 insights into our guestsā life
2 quotes that leave you a little better than they found you
1 podcast recommendation
3 Insights
Matt Camilleri š«
Matt is a physio, an amateur fisherman, and a previous podcast guest who loves to tackle and demystify pain and always leaves people better than he finds them; fitting for a physio, right? thatās what I thought.
In todayās newsletter, Matt gives us insight into how he approaches making changes in his routine and his proven ways of staying motivated on projects or finding energizing hobbies. Matt emphasizes consistency, self-awareness, and a structured approach. Mattās overall commitment to intentional living all starts with small steps, and I think itās something we can learn fromā¦
So, letās get hooked in:
How do you create positive change when you feel like something in your day-to-day routine isnāt working?
Matt: āI find that the first (and often biggest) challenge is understanding the issue. I find that I first need to build an awareness of what the issue is before I can do anything about it. The next step I like to do is selecting one small actionable goal that I can change. At the end of the day, consistent, actionable, and trackable actions are what create change.ā
How do you keep motivated to get projects over the finish line?
Matt: āI will be honest in saying that my motivation comes and goes but I believe very much in having a set of values that distinguish who you are and how you act. I find that these are often my guiding light when motivation wanes.
One great ātrickā I like to use is having two vision boards for my personal and business life. One outlines what I wish to achieve personally, one outlines my business projects, what the core values of each are, short-term goals, and scary big goals for each.ā
how have you found hobbies that really give you the energy and drive to enjoy life outside of work? whatās your blueprint?
Matt: āHaving been heavily involved in sport all my life and being naturally adventurous, I find hobbies are essential for me.
As much as I love building my business, I think spending time in nature and being physically active are essential re-sets if we want to keep our brain working at tip-top shape.
I also really emphasize the importance of looking after yourself if you want to grow anything, activities outside work, great quality sleep, and nutrition are cornerstones of this!
I also personally love having hobby-related āgoalsā which drive me, be it exploring a new fishing spot or progressing up the local squash league rankings!ā
